OpenSIPS is an Open Source project when referring to the actual code, and this worked great over the years, for the entire community – a shared code that people can use and can contribute to.
But in order to get a working SIP/VoIP platform, you need more than the code. You need an OpenSIPS configuration file (the routing logic) and the integration with all the other components (DBs, WEB portals, media relays, etc). So a lot more knowledge is needed in order to pack OpenSIPS into a solution/platform.
Therefore, we have considered taking the Open Source model further, and to extended from the code level to the solution/platform level. And the way to do this is via OpenSIPS Community Editions.
Why OpenSIPS Community Editions?
OpenSIPS Community Editions are the community’s effort to produce real-life SIP solutions (as platforms) already configured to fulfill precise SIP scenarios. OpenSIPS based solutions – acting as SoftSwitch, IMS CSCF or SBC – that are ready to use and simple to deploy.
Looking for a quick demo, a Proof of Concept, or a startup production version? OpenSIPS Community Editions are starting points for further customization or enhancements.
- complete, ready to run solutions
- easy and fast to deploy, Docker based
- shared solution, open to community’s contribution
The OpenSIPS Community Editions are the quickest way to turn more than 20 years of experience into a SIP Platform/Solution with a minimum of time, knowledge and resources investment.
Even more, you can contribute back to the evolution of the OpenSIPS Community Editions, in a truly Open Source spirit, as a community effort. Your needs or customization may easily became mainstream, helping the projects to evolve even further. GitHub repositories, mailing list and trackers are available to facilitate all the joined community work around these solutions/platforms.
Available OpenSIPS Community Editions
The plan is to cover as many SIP scenarios with the OpenSIPS Community Editions. But at this very moment we have released two flavors.
The OpenSIPS SoftSwitch Community Edition is a platform to provide standard calling services to residential or small-business end-customers. It provides Class 4 and a limited core set of Class 5 services (no multi-tenant support), with a good feature set, from basic calling to media or PSTN carrier support.
The OpenSIPS AI Voice Connector is a scalable voice connector from SIP to conversational AI. Emulating a SIP UA, OpenSIPS is interfaced with customizable AI chat service via Speech-to-Text and Text-to-Speech services. Multiple options/flavors are available, through different AI engine integrations over real-time interfaces.
The OpenSIPS IMS CSCF Community Edition (still Work-in-Progress!) aims to provide a complete, functional IMS CSCF setup. The P-CSCF, I-CSCF and S-CSCF implementations based on OpenSIPS and configured to work together in order to provide the basic functionality of a CSCF IMS component. The setup provides SIP and DIAMETER interfaces for further integration and development of IMS solutions.
More are to be added as starting points — to be maintained, developed and supported by the entire OpenSIPS community. Join us !!!
