The OpenSIPS Summits have a 10 + years of history behind them. Started as an Amsterdam based event, the pandemic made us go and visit different cities each year – the community is the one voting, putting on the Summit map new locations like Houston, Athens and Valencia.
This year is Bucharest! And there are plenty of reasons for it to be a special edition, with good reasons to attend.
Bucharest, the home city of OpenSIPS
Yes, the core team of OpenSIPS project is located in Bucharest and this is the first ever Summit taking place here. It is an honor and a pleasure for us to receive the visit of the community in our home city.

Bucharest, called in the 30’s the “Little Paris”, has its specific charm, welcoming you all.
2026, the year of AI
The continued development of AI engines heavily impacted not only the VoIP services, but also OpenSIPS project itself.
The AI is making its way into troubleshooting, into solving bugs, creating new features….it makes its way into writing code, into developing modules, into developing OpenSIPS.
There are good things and concerning things about this – and we plan to discuss them during the 2026 Summit. Thinks like the quality of the AI coding, about the avalanche of submitted AI pull requests, about trusting AI in architectural decisions.
AI is here, it its a powerful tool and we need to be wise and make the best out of it – even if it is about coding, about graphics, or helper tools.
The 4.0 is born
Yes, the OpenSIPS 4.0 will be the star of the OpenSIPS Summit 2026. And OpenSIPS 4.0 is a special release, one about breaking the old walls and pushing forward.
Yes, OpenSIPS 4.0 is to address old limitations, deprecated designs or burning needs we accumulated across years. Concepts we had from day 1 (in SER at that time) are to be reworked; Also new concepts will be added, to align OpenSIPS with the challenges of the current days.
Hot topics like shifting from a multi-process to a multi-threading model for the TCP engine, like shifting from a static limited model to a dynamic scalable model for TM forking (large number of branches)… and many others. All will be widely presented during the 2026 Summit.
The community stronghold
The OpenSIPS Summit is an event of and for the community – the OpenSIPS community is full of experts, developers, VoIP architects, and pioneers from all over the world! These same people are not only looking to share their knowledge with attendees, but also learn and gain knowledge from them as well.
The Summit events are joyful moments in the project life, bringing hope when needed, bringing wisdom and ideas. A stronghold that kept the community united and moving forward.
As Athens Summit re-born after pandemic, Bucharest 2026 Summit is the beacon in the turmoil of these days.
